Putting His Experience
to Work for Uvalde
Ortiz’s background includes forming the Uvalde Southwest Neighborhood Association, a non-profit advocacy group that lobbied to establish the City of Uvalde Grant Committee, of which Ortiz is the Chair. He previously ran multiple businesses in the healthcare industry that focused on the quality of life of the low-income elderly and disabled population. He served for more than two decades on various boards, including the National Adult Day Health Services Association, where he chaired a committee that
successfully lobbied Congress on several issues.
A Uvalde High School graduate, Ortiz attended Angelo State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. He holds a certified public accountant (CPA) certificate from the state of Texas.
